Local Business Women - Corporate Portraits

I've recently been working with the Aberdeen Business Women's committee and some local businesses to provide them with images they can use on websites and other publicity material. ABN sent me an email that I'd like to share with you... making clients happy is such an important part of my photography service.

1950s glamour is really popular, and what a great opportunity to dress up in such feminine clothes. I was working with Jodie this weekend and we managed to use some of the fabulous cars from the era at the Crathes Vintage Car Rally. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help out...

Capturing the essence of childhood in fine art portraiture is such a beautiful way to hold onto those memories. Squeezed in a shoot yesterday of images for Laura's portfolio, before she heads off to a new life in Edinburgh. We've worked together before and wanted to do something more urban.

Baby Baby..... Snacks, feeds and Naps!

Who could resist a baby as beautiful as this? Elana will be one year old at the end of this month and her mum and gran wanted some pictures to remember this milestone in her life.

Baby shoots are the kind where you just have to just go with the flow, nappy changing, snacks, feeds and naps are all part of the fun! You have to be ready to capture that special moment or expression that will be treasured for years to come.

Commercial Shoot - Safety First!!!

With a background in marketing a shoot that requires shots for a client's promotional material is a great opportunity to mix up my skills for the day... so it was off to the Harbour to takes shots of equipment destined for the southern hemisphere...

A rare photograph of me (I prefer to be on the other side of the camera, thank you). As you can see kitted out with full Health and Safety gear, absolutely essential for such a dangerous environment. Equipment, chains and moorings weighing in excess on 25 tons - each!!

(Thank goodness for my Duvet coat tho')

Laura & Kristine

It was cold today, so we kept our shoot quite short. Laura and Kristine are friends and I think you'll agree are both stunningly beautiful women - hopefullly I've managed to capture some of that beauty.

What happens if it's raining on the day of our shoot?

I love working with natural light, but it can have its challenges, especially if it is chucking it down - like yesterday's shoot... One of my favourite places to go are the covered Winter Gardens in the Duthie Park. The light was beautiful, but not as beautiful as these girls. Thank you Katie & Lucy for working so hard!!!

Rachel!!!

Had great fun with Rachel and her Mum yesterday... the weather was perfect for a winter shoot, and the cloud cover made for the perfect lighting: a photographers dream!! We wrapped up warm tho' - as you can see from my fav shots of the session.

Spring's Around the Corner....

... it's snowing again, but the days are getting longer and Spring is .... well.... almost around the corner. Have quite a few shoots lined up over the next few weeks pre-wedding, lifestyle and portfolio. Will upload some of my favs soon.

Investment or Cost?

During the last 18 months or so most people have had to really tighten their financial belts and are managing their budgets much more carefully. A question that photographers get asked a lot is 'how come you're charging £25 for an 8x10" print, when I can get it for £1.50 from Boots?'

With more and more people getting decent digital cameras at Christmas or Birthdays, this question gets asked much more frequently. The principal answer can be found here on the Consumer Guide to Custom Photography.

I really believe that by commissioning a photographer that you can work with as a team is a great investment...

Different Strokes.....

Took some stills today to let you see just a couple of different post processing techniques that are available. I love black and white images as I think they’re timeless, but you maybe prefer something a bit softer like the second image. These are the kinds of things that clients can choose after the shoot itself, so that your images can be displayed in a style that suits your personality and home.
